1st Day of Kindergarten

We walked to Cora's first day of school today!  I can't believe she's old enough to go.  

The school in our town (yep, only one public school that is grade K-3) separates all of the kindergartners into three groups and each group starts on a different day while the others stay home.  That way the first day has a very small group of kids and they get to work with all six teachers.  After these days are over, they assign the kids to their classes, so we won't know until tomorrow night who her teacher is.

 They don't have the kids bring their backpack on the first day, so we didn't get a picture of her with it, but she did get to bring her lunch bag to school.

We signed her in and dropped her off in a classroom.  They had a leapfrog movie on for the kids to watch while they all arrived.  Once she saw that, she didn't even wave goodbye.  I hope her first day will be fun.

Her little brother was the only one that got sad.  He saw all of the big kids playing on the playground and he didn't understand why he can't go to kindergarten too.  He now thinks that school is just a big playground party all day.  He has asked me several times, "When will Cora come home?"
