Finn's 2nd Birthday

My baby boy is two!

Some facts about Finn:

His favorite color is orange.

His favorite animal is a tie between a dragon and a horse.

His favorite toy is "guys" which are daddy's Warhammer game figures.

His favorite food is "triangles" which are PB&J sandwiches in any shape.

Cora's 4th Birthday- Race Cars

We spent the night before Cora's birthday assembling her big present.  We worked on it from about 8PM to 10:30PM so she could wake up to a surprise.  I envisioned taking her outside and watching her smile at the swing set, but she actually came into our room in the morning and asked us, "Why is there a blue slide in the backyard?"  I guess she looked out the window when she woke up.

Then we got ready for the birthday party.  Cora loves all things cars, both the movie, and also just little matchbox cars, so I made her this cake.

It was pretty yummy too.

Then we played outside on the swing set, slip n' slide, kiddie pool, and water balloons.

We had a lot of fun.  I'm really glad we decided to play out in the water because it was 105 degrees that day.  HOT!

The Big 30

Rob has reached a milestone. He's now 30 years old. Woohoo!

We celebrated by surprising him at work with balloons and a happy birthday sign. Then we had a big pear spice cake. We used a modified version of this recipe. It turned out pretty good, but I couldn't find candied ginger at the grocery store despite asking 3 different employees, so we just added a little more powdered ginger to give it a little kick.

Here's a picture of the the birthday boy and his bikaboon (big balloon) that our kid loves so much. It's still floating in the apartment and she plays with it every day.
