Minnesota

A lot of stuff has been going on in our family lately. Many of you know that Rob has decided that it's time to give up on the PhD program (for a variety of reasons...) and search for a college teaching job with his Master's degree. He had an interview for a part-time job with Milwaukee's University of Phoenix campus, and was offered a job! Hooray! So at least that's something! He's got to take their 5 classes of teacher training and then he'll start teaching 2 nights a week there. He's also applying to a variety of jobs, mostly in the mid-west area. We'll see how it goes, but hopefully he's going to be a full-time college teacher this fall.

We also went to Minnesota to visit JulieAnn's parents last week. We did lots of fun things. Here are some photos.

We visited Lark Toys, which is an awesome huge toy store/museum. Cakes had fun filling a toy shopping cart with birds, and she caught herself in a net too.

We also rode the hand-carved wooden carousel twice with Cakes. She was pretty scared the first time, but she soon warmed up and by the second ride she had the hugest cutest smile on her face.

We visited the National Eagle Center. They had three eagles on display, and there were lots of bald eagles flying over the Mississippi that you could see from a deck on the second floor.Rob did some archery and we had a picnic at Essex park. Cakes liked this lookout tower they had. Rob shot my brother Steve's compound bow for the first time.This picture is not from our Minnesota trip, but I had to put it on here. I call it "spaghetti monster."
